Engineered Oak Click Flooring Installation Steps (Click System)

Floor Preparation: Ensure the subfloor is level, with a maximum height difference of 3mm per meter. Clean any dust or debris.

Lay the Underlayment: Spread the moisture barrier underlayment evenly and secure the seams with tape to prevent moisture damage.

Install the First Plank: Start from a corner of the room, leaving a 10-15mm expansion gap along the wall.

Join the First Row: Align the tongue and groove, insert the plank at an angle, and gently press it down to lock in place.

Continue Installing: Connect subsequent planks by angling and locking them together. Use a rubber mallet to ensure a tight fit.

Stagger the Seams: Begin the second row with an offset of at least 30cm to enhance stability and aesthetics.

Cut and Adjust: Trim planks as needed using a flooring cutter or saw to fit the room dimensions.

Install the Final Row: The last row may require cutting to fit. Leave expansion gaps along the edges.

Secure the Last Plank: Use a pull bar tool to tightly lock the last plank in place.

Install Skirting Boards: Cover the expansion gaps by installing baseboards or skirting along the edges.

Clean the Surface: Wipe the floor with a damp cloth. Avoid excessive water or harsh chemicals to protect the finish.

Prevent Water Damage: Do not wash the floor with water directly. Wipe spills immediately to prevent moisture penetration.

FAQ

Q: How do I clean and maintain this flooring?

A: Regular sweeping or vacuuming helps remove dust and debris. Use a damp (not wet) mop with a pH-neutral cleaner. Avoid excessive moisture and harsh chemicals to preserve the protective finish.

Q: Do I need an underlayment?

A: Using an underlayment is recommended for moisture protection, sound reduction, and added comfort. If installing over concrete, a moisture barrier is necessary to prevent long-term damage.

Q: How durable is it?

A: The wear layer is rated from AC1 to AC5, with AC3 being ideal for homes and AC4 or AC5 suitable for commercial spaces with high foot traffic. Choosing the right rating ensures long-lasting performance.

Q: What is the installation process?

A: The click-lock system allows for easy floating installation without glue or nails. Start on a clean, level subfloor, maintain an expansion gap, and lock planks together at an angle before pressing them flat.

Q: What color options are available?

A: Popular choices include light gray for a modern look, natural tones for a classic feel, and darker shades for a rich, sophisticated aesthetic. Choosing the right color can enhance your interior style.
